The Event
In honor of Asian American Pacific Islander heritage month, the SAFE Center will be hosting the first AAPI community celebration event in Richmond on May 2, 2026, from 10 AM to 2 pm.
Our event celebrates Asian American and Pacific Islander heritage, featuring free food, free legal and health resources, a talent show, a fashion show, and more.
Seeking Artists
We are currently seeking art created by AAPI artists or inspired by AAPI cultures and/or history. Artist vendors don't have to be Asian, Asian American or of Pacific Islander heritage, but their work should reflect these cultures.
No participation fee (but scroll down for more info)

How to Apply
Please contact Mohammad Khanzada at mohammad.khanzada@chaaweb.org
Please include your full name, your phone number, a one paragraph artist bio, a description of what you'll show/sell, along with your social media handles or website.
Logistics
The entire event will take place inside the Richmond Auditorium. We expect to have about 300 attendees.
We will provide tables and chairs, but you must provide your own tabletop or stand-alone display structures as there is no wall space in which to hang work.
Bring charged devices and power banks- there's no electrical access or extension cords.
Bring a phone that can be a hotspot- Wi-Fi may be limited
As we get closer, we will send you an email with more details, i.e. parking, loading areas, and the status of potential fees. While the City of Richmond typically charges 20% of net profits, a Council Member is currently working to get this fee waived.
