Richmond Open Studios Preview Exhibition ‘Made in Richmond’ Now In Its Fourth Year
Now it its fourth year, our Made in Richmond exhibition will be at the Richmond Art Center’s Main Gallery. Please save the date for our opening reception on June 27, from 1-3 pm.
Thanks to Visual Artists of Richmond’s partnership with the Richmond Art Center, Made In Richmond is able to showcase the diversity of visual art in Richmond. This show helps the public pick the artists they will visit during Richmond Open Studios in August.
Made in Richmond is more than another membership show. It is special because it is a show put together by Richmond artists for Richmond artists. Curator Erin McCluskey Wheeler is a successful local artist who is herself a product of Richmond’s art environment, and Visual Artists of Richmond (VAR) is a group of over 140 local artists passionate about expanding opportunities and venues for local art. VAR organizes this show every year to increase the visibility of artists residing or making their art in Richmond.
This year, Made In Richmond was put together with the help of individual donations, support from Arts Contra Costa County and the Richmond Art Center, as well as sponsorships from Kaiser Permanente, Seaport Studios and Metzli.
